Steve Leyh, Executive Director
Steve Leyh is an entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience as a business leader.
In November 2017, he was selected as executive director of the Tucker County Development Authority. The authority works to promote economic development while embracing the heritage of the community.
Before arriving in Tucker County, Leyh served on and would later lead the Downtown Development Commission in Cumberland, Maryland as executive director. He simultaneously worked as promotions director for the Canal Place Preservation & Development Authority believing that collaboration between the two organizations was a key to success. He was an active member and served as chair of the Canal Towns Partnership, an economic and community development initiative for communities along the C&O Canal National Historical Park.
Previously, Leyh founded Away Media, a digital design and marketing company where he strategically increased sales for hundreds of businesses. As a teen, he founded Weekend Adventures Magazine – a destination marketing company focused on the mountains of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Under his leadership, Weekend Adventures Magazine would grow in sales and readership and eventually win back-to-back West Virginia tourism awards.
He is an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Leadership Allegany, and a graduate of Boys State at the United States Naval Academy.
