Steve Leyh, Executive Director

Steve Leyh is an entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience as a business leader.

In November 2017, he was selected as executive director of the Tucker County Development Authority. The authority works to promote economic development while embracing the heritage of the community.

Before arriving in Tucker County, Leyh served on and would later lead the Downtown Development Commission in Cumberland, Maryland as executive director. He simultaneously worked as promotions director for the Canal Place Preservation & Development Authority believing that collaboration between the two organizations was a key to success. He was an active member and served as chair of the Canal Towns Partnership, an economic and community development initiative for communities along the C&O Canal National Historical Park.

Previously, Leyh founded a digital design and marketing company where he strategically increased sales for hundreds of businesses. As a teenager, he founded a magazine and destination marketing company focused on the mountains of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Under his leadership the company flourished and won back-to-back West Virginia tourism awards.

He is an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Leadership Allegany, and a graduate of Boys State at the United States Naval Academy. He holds a certificate of Business Economics from Cornell University. Currently he serves on the board of directors for the Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau, West Virginia Hardwood Alliance Zone and is an advisory board member for the West Virginia Small Business Development Center. Leyh is also a proud member of the International Economic Development Council, Southern Economic Development Council, West Virginia Economic Development Council and the Tucker County Chamber of Commerce.

He resides in Thomas with his family and his yellow lab. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, skiing and savoring the beauty of Tucker County.
