Tuesday, June 7 at American Public University System
CHARLES TOWN, WEST VIRGINIA ─ The U.S. Small Business Administration is participating in the second annual Dynamic Networking for Small Business (DyNet) East Conference.   The free, day-long matchmaking event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at the American Public University System and offers small businesses the opportunity to network directly with federal agencies, large prime contractors and other small businesses.
This year’s participants include: Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), General Services Administration (GSA), National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), FBI – InfraGuard, Regional Contracting Assistance Center (RCAC), Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and more.

Two training sessions are offered: “Doing Business with GSA” featuring Charles Aycock from GSA and George Murray SBA’s West Virginia District Office; and “Cybersecurity – Current Threats for Small Businesses” featuring Michelle Pirtle from FBI and Pat Toth from NIST.

The DyNet Conference is hosted by the I-79 Development Council in partnership with the American Public University System, MPL, SRE, Inc., Eastern Panhandle Technology Innovation Center, Region 9 Planning & Development Council, and Western Potomac Economic Partnership.

America's SBDC Conference Registration Open!
WVSBDC Business Coaches

During our recent WVSBDC Network Member Performance Appraisals, the discussion regarding professional development included exporting credentialing.

WVSBDC business coaches may want to consider doing the SBA Export Intermediate level training.  This is a free online resource that will provide you with an introduction to the resources that are out there for SBDC business coaches, and will require a minimal investment of your time.

Please go to http://www.export.gov/sbcounselors/  to check it out.

The Certified Global Business Professional certification would be helpful as WVSBDC business coaches work with exporting clients.  The message below, from SBDCGlobal, details a webinar series that can help prepare you for the exam.  Although it looks like it’s designed with particular networks in mind, the fine print also states that it’s free to any registered SBDCGlobal business advisor.  This training should match the material in the Global Entrepreneur book from the WVSBDC business coaching library, and it can be used as a sort of textbook.

The NASBITE CGBP credential is a benchmark of competency in international trade. Earning this designation demonstrates mastery of the topics covered and sets the bar for professionalism in the field.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss these opportunities in detail, please contact Debra.K.Martin@wv.gov .
